Four Booked for Extortion Bid After Filming Foreign Woman at Ahmedabad’s Hyatt Hotel

Ahmedabad: Four individuals have been booked for allegedly filming a foreign woman staying at Ahmedabad’s Hyatt Hotel without her consent and attempting to extort ₹5 lakh from the hotel management by threatening to circulate the video on social media.

According to a complaint filed by the hotel at the Women’s Crime Police Station (West), the incident began around 5 am on October 29, when a woman from the Philippines arrived at the hotel. One of the accused, identified as Shubh Shah, allegedly followed her to her room, entered it and recorded a video without her permission.

Shah subsequently alleged that prostitution was being facilitated at the hotel, claiming that foreign women were brought there to provide services to clients contacted online. He reportedly left a visiting card bearing the name Sanket Prajapati at the hotel reception and later shared a link to an Instagram account containing the video with hotel staff.

On October 30, Shah, Sanket Prajapati and two other individuals allegedly visited the hotel to meet its manager. They showed the video, threatened to circulate it widely on social media and share it with the media, and demanded ₹5 lakh as a settlement.

When the manager refused to pay and threatened to call the police, the four individuals allegedly fled. Subsequently, the video was uploaded on social media with a misleading caption claiming that foreign women were brought to the hotel for prostitution for ₹25,000.

Following the incident, the hotel management approached the police. The Women’s Crime Police Station (West) has registered a complaint against all four individuals and initiated an investigation.

The accused are currently absconding, and police teams are searching for them at their residences and offices. DeshGujarat
