Kankaria Lake Boating to Resume from Nov 3; Ticket Rates Announced

Ahmedabad: Boating activities at Kankaria Lake in Ahmedabad will resume from November 3, 2026, with ticket prices ranging from Rs 60 to Rs 300 per person, including GST, following the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) approval to restart operations after safety inspections.

The ticket rates for different boating activities are as follows: Pedal boats will cost Rs 60 per person, Shikara and Gypsy rides Rs 150 each, and Speed Boat and Pontoon Boat rides Rs 160 per person. Floating Café tickets have been priced at Rs 260 for children and Rs 300 for adults.

The reopening follows a review by the City Waterside Safety Committee, constituted after the Harni Lake boating tragedy in Vadodara to ensure compliance with the Gujarat government’s boating policy and standard operating procedures (SOPs). At its October 31 meeting, the committee reviewed the safety arrangements at Kankaria Lake and unanimously expressed satisfaction, granting its consent to resume boating activities.

The AMC said all necessary permissions, certificates and insurance policies had been verified. NCC Navy officials also conducted a site inspection and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements.

As part of the safety measures, an emergency response centre equipped with 360-degree glass views and CCTV surveillance has been established, with Fire Department personnel assigned to monitor the cameras. The facility also has 24-hour medical services, including an ambulance, more than 350 life jackets, walkie-talkies, an announcement system and safety instruction boards.

Visitors will not be permitted to undertake boating activities without wearing life jackets. DeshGujarat
