Amit Shah to Inaugurate Iskcon-Sanand Elevated Corridor on SG Highway on Nov 9
November 04, 2026
Ahmedabad: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate a six-lane elevated corridor connecting Iskcon Junction to Sanand Chowkdi on Ahmedabad’s SG Highway on November 9 during his annual Diwali visit to Gujarat. The 4-km corridor, constructed at a cost of over ₹464 crore, has been completed and will be opened to the public.
Shah, along with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, will inaugurate the corridor at 11 am. During the visit, development projects worth over ₹1,500 crore across Ahmedabad and the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency will be inaugurated or have their foundation stones laid.
Flyover expected to benefit 2 lakh motorists daily
The elevated corridor is expected to ease traffic congestion on SG Highway and benefit around 2 lakh motorists daily. It is likely to improve connectivity between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar while making travel faster and more convenient for commuters.
Motorists travelling from Saurashtra towards Gandhinagar via Ujala Circle in Ahmedabad are also expected to benefit from the project.
Three ramps on each side of corridor
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) undertook the elevated corridor project to address persistent traffic congestion on SG Highway, particularly along the stretch between Iskcon Junction and Sanand Chowkdi.
Construction has been underway for over two years. The corridor features three ramps on each side to facilitate access for motorists and improve traffic movement along the highway.
Projects worth over ₹1,000 crore to be launched
Apart from the ₹464-crore elevated corridor, several development projects undertaken by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and the state and central governments will be launched during Shah’s visit.
Projects worth over ₹700 crore will be inaugurated, while foundation stones will be laid for development works valued at ₹364 crore.
The programme includes 27 projects of the AMC, along with development works undertaken by the state and central governments.
Among the projects to be inaugurated are new smart schools in Naranpura, Ghatlodia and Bopal, as well as water tanks in Ranip and Chandlodia in the Sabarmati Assembly constituency.
Foundation stones will also be laid for the redevelopment of Parikshitlal Nagar slum in Wadaj and Hanumanpura chawl.
A public meeting addressed by Shah is also being planned during the visit, with the venue yet to be finalised. DeshGujarat
