Gujarat Govt Declares 3% DA Hike for Employees, Pensioners

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has given in-principle approval for a 3% increase in dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees and pensioners ahead of Diwali, potentially benefiting around 4 lakh employees and 4.82 lakh pensioners across the state.

The decision follows the Centre’s announcement of a DA hike and is expected to provide financial relief to government employees and retirees ahead of the festive season. The proposed increase covers employees of the state government and panchayat services, among others. However, the eligibility criteria and effective date of the revised rates will be clarified following the formal government notification.

The hike will be calculated on employees’ basic pay, resulting in an increase in their monthly income. Pensioners will also receive a corresponding increase in dearness relief (DR), which is calculated on their pension.

The increase is expected to be implemented retrospectively, potentially entitling beneficiaries to arrears for the applicable period. However, the effective date and payment schedule will be confirmed through the official government resolution (GR).

The Finance Department is expected to issue a formal notification shortly, detailing the revised DA rates, implementation date and other applicable provisions. The announcement is likely to bring financial relief to thousands of government employees and pensioners ahead of Diwali and the Gujarati New Year. DeshGujarat
