Gadkari to launch works for four laning of Bhavnagar – Veraval coastal highway

Union Road and Transport minister Nitin Gadkari and Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel will perform ground breaking for National Highway Authority of India’s 256 km Bhavnagar – Veraval four lane highway.
The highway will connect ports like Pipavav, Alang, Ghogha, Jafrabad and Veraval. While Alang has ship breaking yard, Ghogha, Jaftabad and Veraval are fishing port. Pipavav is commercial port. Tourist places like Palitana, Talaja, Diu and Somnath Mandir are also located near this highway.
There are 24 big bridges, 129 small bridges, 330 channels, 4 railway bridges, 5 over bridges and 19 bypasses proposed to be constructed under this project.
The construction will take place under hybrid annuity model through cement concrete. Construction cost will be Rs 3600 crore while total cost including land acquisition will be Rs 4800 crore as per initial estimate. The works are to be completed in two and half years and design period will be 30 years. Land acquisition process is in last phase.
