Works for four lanning of road connecting Vadodara, Ankleshwar to Statue of Unity launched

Works were launched today for four lanning of Dabhoi-Tilakwada-Devalia road, Ankleshwar-Jhagadia-Rajpipla road and Garudeshwar chokdi-Kevadia colony road in central Gujarat with aim to connect the Statue of Unity site with Ahmedabad-Mumbai national highway.
Speaking on this occasion Road and Building minister Nitin Patel said the Statue of Unity will be ready in year 2018 after which Narmada district will be on global tourism map. Rs 525 crore road connectivity works initiated today are therefore important.
He said 3300 road works worth Rs 3700 crore are approved under Gujarat Chief Minister Gram Sadak Yojana as non-plan projects in first phase.
He said Rs 36 crore works of two bridges are approved in Narmada district.
“The Gujarat government has issued work order of Rs 2,979 cr to Larsen & Toubro (L&T) to construct the Statue of Unity, which would be the tallest statue in the world,” state Finance Minister Saurabh Patel said.
“To facilitate the road travel of tourists from all over the world who would visit the Statue of Unity after it is built in a few years, the government is focusing on building the four-lane road from Vadodara and Ankleshwar leading to the statue,” Patel, who is also the Tourism Minister of the state, said.
The 182-km-long statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, which would be developed as a major tourist attraction, would come up in Narmada district.
