Booking of the University hall for Kejriwal’s function cancelled by the person who booked it:VC

Surat: Amid the alleged controversy over the cancellation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejariwal’s proposed Gujarat visit early next month, Vice Chancellor of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University of Surat, Dr Daxesh Thakar today said that the booking of the convention hall of the university for the function which was also to be attended by Mr. Kejariwal on July 10 was cancelled by none other than the person who booked it almost a fortnight ago.

He said that one Jayalal of the Surat Merchants Association who had booked the hall by paying a cheque of the fixed one day rental of Rs 25000/-, had come to his office saying he want to cancel the booking of the hall for now.

‘He said that the function would be held on some other date and the hall would be booked at a latter date,’ the VC said adding that the cheque was returned to him.

Notably Aam Aadmi Party today alleged that the cancellation of the hall has been done due to ‘pressure’ from Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

Addressing a joint press conference here today Gujarat state in-charge of AAP and Delhi MLA Gulab Yadav and state president Kanu Kalsaria said that merchants from Surat had invited Mr. Kejariwal to attend a function there. The Delhi CM was to attend the function on July 10 but the hall booked for it has been cancelled owing to pressure from the office of Gujarat Chief Minister Mrs Anandiben Patel, who was afraid of Mr. Kejariwal’s coming to Gujarat.
