Visitors of Junagadh’s Sakkarbag zoo will now be able to see cheetahs again here. Four cheetahs gripped by disease are now doing well and they are introduced again for public view. They were being treated in consultation of Singapore zoo from where they were brought last year in exchange of Gir lion. It should be mentioned that Gujarat’s Sakkarbag zoo is the only zoo in India where Cheetahs are kept. Cheetahs were introduced in Indian zooes earlier also but none could survive.
In another development, Sakkarbag zoo would sent one male tiger, one Himalayan black bear and four deers to Vadodara zoo for matting purpose. In exchange Sakkarbag zoo would get four types of foreign birds. Sakkarbag zoo already possesses 36 types of birds as of now.
