Live: Narendra Modi at launching of irrigation and water supply schemes at Limkheda, Dahod

Limkheda(Dahod): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to announce six water supply projects worth Rs.1,757-crore and four lift irrigation projects worth another Rs.2,000-crore, totaling Rs.4,800-crore under Gujarat’s Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojna for the districts lying in the state’s forest belt at a function to be held at the Arts College Mota Hathi Dhara in Limkheda in Dahod district on his birthday on September 17, 2017 today.

The stage is set to accord impressive welcome to the Prime Minister in the predominantly tribal district of Dahod as per tribal traditions to the thumping of drums and dance numbers. The six water supply projects will provide drinking water to about 21-lakh people residing in 960 villages, including 23 settlements for Narmada PAPs, in the Dahod, Mahisagar, Narmada and Chhotauper districts.Similarly, the four lift irrigation projects based on Kadana-Karjan and Kakrapar Reservoirs will provide irrigation in 97,455 hectares in the Dahod, Narmada, Mahisagar and Surat districts.The Dahod district alone will get benefits for lift irrigation projects worth Rs.1,055-crore from Kadana Reservoir and drinking water projects worth Rs.890-crore from the Narmada-based Hafeshwar.The forest titles will also be handed over to the tribal people in presence of Prime Minister and other dignitaries on the occasion.Prominent among those attending the function include Gujarat’s Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Deputy Chief Minister Nitinbhai Patel, former Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, Union Minister of State Jaswantsinh Bhbahor, Gujarat’s Tribal Welfare Minister Ganpat Vasava,Water Supply Minister Babubhai Bakharia, District In-charge and Home Minister Pradeepsinh Jadeja, Ministers of State Nanubhai Vanani, Jashabhai Barad, Bachubhai Khabad, Jaydrathsinh Parmar and Shabdasharan Tadvi, MPs Prabhatsinh Chauhan, Ramsinh Rathwa, Prabhubhai Vasava, and office-bearers.
