Hoardings unwelcoming Arvind Kejriwal surface in North Gujarat
October 14, 2016
Ahmedabad/Mahesana: Amid the intensifying opposition of AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from various quarters on his statement regarding Indian armed force’s surgical strikes on the terror launch pads in PoK, large hoardings and posters against him have popped up in and around Unjha town of Mahesana district in North Gujarat, a known fortress of Patidar community, where he will be going tomorrow as part of his four day trip to the state beginning today.
‘Namak Hindustan Ka Khata Hai Aur Geet Pakistan Ka Gaata Hai’ (Consumes Indian Salt but Supports Pakistan), one of the hoardings in Hindi with the photograph of Kejriwal over the Unjha- Mahesana highway in the name of less known Rashtravadi Patidar Sangathan (RPS) seen today reads.
A poster asking him to go back form Gujarat has more aggressive lines against the Dellhi CM. ‘Paikstan Ke Yaar Kejriwal, Desh Ke Gaddar Kejriwal, Sena ke Gunahgar Kejriwal, Wapas Jao Wapas Jao’ (Friend of Pakistan Kejriwal, Betrayer of nation Kejriwal and committer of crime against the Army Kejriwal go back go back).
Another big hoarding on the Unjha-Mahesana highway says that Kejriwal should not spread foul smell beyond Delhi (in Unjha),as Unjha is a land famous for the pleasant smell of Jeera (Cumin) and Saunf (Fennel).
Earlier anti Kejriwal posters were seen in Surat, Ahmedabad and Vadodara of which some even equaled him with terrorists like slain Hizbul Mujahidin leader Burhan Wani, LeT leader Hafiz Saeed and Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden terming all of them ‘Heroes of Pakistan’.
The woes of the APP party and its leader who is to address a rally near Yogi Chauk in Surat on October 16 did not end with it as several outfits including the one of former service men (ex-armed personnel) are also opposing his visit to Gujarat for trying to politicize the surgical strike issue and asking for proof thus lowering the morale of the army.
One outfit has gone a step further and announced publicly that to protest against his alleged anti-national statements its members will throw shoes during Kejriwals meeting. The spokesperson of Brahm Padkar Sena, Amrish Jani said that our members will throw at least 500 pairs of shoes on the face of this ‘traitor’ who had downed the morale of the army.
Looking at the heavy anti Kejriwal sentiment in Gujarat even PAAS convener Hardik Patel, who is deemed close to him, has also tired to distance himself from him. In a video message from Udaipur where he is leaving in exile of sorts as per his bail conditions, the PAAS leader said that he has no connections with AAP.
Kejriwal will arrive at Ahmedabad airport this evening and would move to Mahesana for night halt and meeting with the family members of those killed during violent Patidar quota stir in August last year in Kambli village. In an apparent attempt to woo the Patidar community he will also visit Umiya Mata temple in Unjha tomorrow. He will come to Ahmedabad in the afternoon and after meeting the family members of Shreyang who died during the same stir in police custody, will move to Vadodara. He will address a public meeting in Surat on October 16 to start his party’s poll campaign in the wake of next year’s assembly election in Gujarat and return to Delhi on October 17.
Banners and posters are also there allover Surat questioning Kejriwal. Have a look here.
