April 22, 2017
Somnath: BJP president Amit Shah today said that this year’s Gujarat assembly poll was an opportunity to ‘root-out’ Congress completely.
Addressing the concluding session of the two day state executive of Gujarat BJP, Shah said that the party would certainly win over 150 seats in Gujarat. The BJP workers should make efforts for such a big win which proves to be bone-chilling for Congress.
‘This (the assembly polls due to be held this year) is not an opportunity to form the government in Gujarat as BJP’s win was certain. It is in fact the opportunity to completely root-out Congress. It should be routed in all the booths Congress has proved its uselessness. Since 1990 the BJP is in power in Gujarat and it is now turned invincible. This opportunity is also to break the record of victory on 149 seats. We will win over 150 seats just at snapping of fingers because our government has performed well and our organization is strong,’ he said urging the party carders to lift ‘Gandiv’ like Arjuna.
Shah also lavishly praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that he has shown as to what a prime minister should be like. He said that since Modi’s becoming PM in 2014 BJP has recorded consecutive wins in various polls. ‘Modi;s victory chariot will come to Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh this year,’ he said adding that his work as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and making it an example of welfare state as mentioned in the constitution, was the reason behind the wins.

He said that the party has now 10 crore members leaving behind the modest beginning of its predecessor Jan Sangh which had begun its journey with only 10 members. The BJP led NDA now has governments in 17 states. It now rules 60% of populations and 72% of the area of the country. The party which was ones termed as the party of rich and urban community has now become the party of all and of poor. He said that the the party workers have made many sacrifices to take the party to this height.
