Congress lost wherever Rahul went, I want him to come to Gujarat:Rupani

Correspondent, Somnath: Amid reports of the possibility of another Gujarat visit by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on May 1, the foundation day of the sate, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today said that Rahul’s visit would take the oppostion party further down.

Talking to newsmen here on the sidelines of the BJP state executive meet, Rupani said, ‘I want that Rahul should visit Gujarat. In the past wherever he had gone Congress had lost the polls miserably.’

‘In UP Congress could win only 9 seats despite large number of meetings by Rahul. The party has now tunred in to a sinking boat,’ he said replying to a question regarding Rahul’s possible Gujarat visit.
He said that Rahul’s visit won’t at all matter.

Later during his address to the party leaders on the second day and final day of the two day executive meet, he urged them to ensure a grand victory for the party with over 150 seats (in 182 member assembly). He said that the grand win in 2017 (in Gujarat assembly polls) was necessary for 2019 ( grand win in general elections).

Notably, Congress had invited Rahul Gandhi to adress a rally in Dediapada of tribal dominated Narmada district on May 1.
