Some BJP leaders will join Congress in next fortnight, claims Bharatsinh Solanki
May 17, 2017
Gandhinagar: State Congress president Bharatsinh Solanki today said that some BJP leaders in Gujarat would join Congress party in next 10-15 days.
Solanki refused the possibility of any Congress MLA leaving the party. He said BJP has not been able to destabilize even any district panchayat ruled by Congress, forget MLAs.
He said Shankersih Vaghela was not upset with party and he himself had met Shankersinh just last evening.
Solanki said Shankersinh has left for abroad for a week or so for personal reasons. He will be back on 22nd or so.
Solani alleged, BJP was spreading rumors regarding Congress MLAs.
It should be noted here that leader of opposition Shnakersinh Vaghela has reportedly reached Singapore today morning. He is going to be there for a week.
Bharatsinh had to call a press conference around noon today in response to news reports quoting sources in local TV media suggesting that 8 Shankersinh Vaghela supporter MLAs including his son Mahendrasinh Vaghela were all set to join BJP. Each MLA when contacted today by media denied such possibility and said they were continuing in Congress.
It’s worth mentioning here that Gujarat is going to witness Rajya Sabha election for three seats in near future. Two of three seats are with BJP while one is with Congress. MLAs are voters in Rajya Sabha election. Some sitting MLAs of Congress, most of them Shakersin-supporters are upset with party as their ticket is not confirmed yet, contrary to party appointed Antony committee report that suggested that candidates should be selected very early so that they can plan and campaign for election. Shankersinh had recently expressed his displeasure openly regarding this. Gujarat is going to witness assembly elections in December this year.
