Textile India 2017: Irani hails Gujarat as best place for textile Industry, 65 MoUs singed on day 2

Gandhinagar: Altogether 65 MoU’s were singed on the second day of the ongoing mega trade Fair- Textile India 2017 here today.
The event was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi yesterday.
All the MoUs pertaining to textile sector were signed in the presence of Union Textile Minister Mrs Smriti Irani and Union Minister of State for Textile Ajay Tamta between various domestic and international organisations from industry and government; three of the MoUs signed are G2G MoUs.
Talking to newsmen, the Textiles Minister said that the current age was a golden era for development of textile industry and affirmed the commitment of the government in promoting the sector.
She said that Gujarat was the ‘best’ place for textile industry and the state government had focus on skill development.
Speaking on the second day of the mega exhibition- textile India 2017, which was yesterday inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ms Smriti said presently there was huge potential for this sector in this state however, the state government should be ready for the future challenges.
“I congratulate the state government for promoting skill development through negotiations with investors and other organisations,” said the Union Textile Minister.
“The textile industry of Gujarat is all set for the global competition,” she added.
Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was also present with the Union Minister, said it was under the then CM Modi’s regime that the textile industry of the state had started its developmental journey as it was Modi who had launched the state’s textile policy in 2012 because of which Gujarat brought a revolutionary change in the sector.
He said that the first challenge of his state was to get a hold in the global textile market.
Textile India 2017, first ever mega trade event for the textile sector, has been organised by the Ministry of Textile which is being attended by 1,500 exhibitors, 20,000 participants and 2,500 foreign buyers.
