After review meeting CM Rupani says, extensive relief/rescue operations on, 214 saved

Gandhinagar: Amid ongoing heavy to very heavy rainfall across Gujarat, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today reviewed the situation and said that extensive relief and rescue operation was going on and the situation was well under control.
After the review meeting here CM Rupani said that it was raining since Thursday and owing to the heavy rain warning for coming 48 hours too, the control rooms across the state would continue to work 24×7.
So far 214 people trapped in rain caused flood affected areas have been rescued by NDRF and other agencies from various parts of the state.
He said that 56 roads and 10 state highways have been damaged owing to rains but no national highway was closed owing to it. ‘Efforts were on to open the roads at the earliest,’ he said.
‘Places like Chotila in Surendranagar district have seen another very heavy rain spell in a matter of few days. It has received around 14 inches in last 24 horus. It has caused inconvenience but the relief and rescue was on in full swing,’ the CM said.
He said that some dams have also overflown and the administration has shifted people from the affected areas. The collectors and other officials have been working day in and day out to oversee the rescue work. Food packets and other essential items in flood affected areas were also being distributed.
Rupani said that the state has completed 52% of rainfall.
He said that the overall situation in the state was under control.
