It seems a yet another example of Congress party’s “avoid Amitabh” stand. A stand that the party has taken since Amitabh Bachchan accepted to become brand ambassador of Gujarat Tourism.
According to Hindustan Times report, in ongoing Shanghai World Expo 2010’s baboo-domes Indian pavilion’s art and culture section, Raj Kapoor, Kamal Hassan, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Dilip Kumar, and Danny Dengzongpa are all included, but Amitabh Bachchan is excluded.
HT report says, while Shah Rukh Khan has been mentioned in this gallery as “a superstar of Indian cinema today,” Amitabh Bachchan is nowhere in the gallery that is about Bollywood.
“The organizers, though, have created space for Bachchan’s daughter-in-law along with Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor. But the ‘Bachchan’ is conspicuously missing from Aishwarya Rai’s name,” says HT report.
When asked about Bachchan’s exclusion, obviously for political reasons, the Indian Trade Promotion Organization(ITPO) officials told HT there’s nothing political – Bachchan isn’t in the Congress’ good books – about it.
