CAG report tabled in Gujarat Assembly, Congress objects to its tabling on last day of session
March 28, 2018
Gandhinagar:
The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on the state finances for the year ended March 2017 was tabled in the Gujarat Assembly today on the last day of the budget session.
Deputy Chief Minister cum Finance Minister Nitin Patel today tabled the report after question hour.
For years the CAG report is tabled on the last day of the budget session.
Patel also presented the appropriation bill related to the budget.
Meanwhile, main opposition Congress again took strong exception to the tabling of the CAG report on the last day of the session.
LoP Paresh Dhanani termed the report a box full of corruption incidents by the government. He said that his party would take the report to public and create pressure on the government so that the CAG report was tabled during session and not on the last day.
‘If the report is tabled during the session, it can be discussed on the floor of the house but the government by bringing it on the last day try to cover up its corruption,’ he alleged.
