Banas Diary to set up its another complex in Diyodar area: Chairman Shankar Chaudhary

Diyodar (Banaskantha): A new complex of the Banaskantha District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Ltd, better known as Banas Dairy, would be set up in Diyodar area, its chairman and former minister Shankar Chaudhary today informed.
Palanpur based Banas dairy, the largest among the 18 dairies under the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF), which owns brand Amul, procures around 50 lakh liters of milk per day from more than 3.5 lakh milk producers.
During an event in Raiya village Chaudhary informed that the board of the diary has already accepted the proposal to set up another complex in Diyodar area. He said that the extension of the dairy was needed as the production and supply of milk in and around Banaskantha district was growing.
‘The new state of the art diary complex would create new job opportunities in the interior parts of the district,’ he said.
Notably the procurement prices of both categories was hiked by Rs 20 on April 21. It was also raised during an even earlier hike on March 1.
The dairy before floods used to procure 45lakh litres of milk everyday from over 3.5 lakh milk producers, through 1,500 milk collecting centres.
GCMMF in all collects around 180 lakh liter of milk per day from from 18,549 village milk cooperative societies, 18 member unions covering 33 districts, and 3.6 million milk producer members across the state. Of this the Banas Dairy has its network in around 1200 villages of North Gujarat mainly Banaskantha and adjoining areas.It is one of the largest dairies across Asia and also markets honey, ghee under Banas brand.
