Valley of Flower being developed at 17 km long bank of river Narmada to cover 250 hectare area in phase – 1

Bharuch: Department of Forest, Government of Gujarat is developing a valley of flowers project on the bank of river Narmada as tourist attraction. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate world’s tallest statue dedicated to iron man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31st at Sardar Sarovar Narmada dam. Valley of flowers is being developed in 17 km area on the bank of river Narmada, located next to the statue.

According to government note, the valley of flowers project will include plantation of flowering trees such as Garmalo(Golden rain tree), Champo(Plumeria), Khakhro(Palash), Pongaro, Galtora, Tecoma, Boganwila, Nerium, Qualisis, Vadeliya, Alaamanda Cathartica, colorful varieties of bamboo and grass, Galgota, Kendula, Sunflower and Vinka – in total more than 100 types of trees, plants and grass.

In the first phase, around 250 hectare area will be covered under this project. In the later stage, it will be expanded to 3,000 hectares.

As big as 32,500 square meter area of this project has been covered with drip irrigation facility. Two water bodies are also developed and decorated with lotus and poyna.

Various natural trails such as Rewa track, Sadhu track, Vaikunth track, Sardar track and Ashwatthama track are created for visitors.

Similarly parks such as Adventure Park, Garden of Five Sense, Selfie with Statue, Sardar Garden are also being developed for visitors.
