February 19, 2019
Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani today launched nation-wide ‘112 Emergency Helpline Services’ for Gujarat from Gandhinagar.
Terming the Centre’s decision to have a common emergency helpline service number as a “good” for the public interest, Rupani said that on the line of GST (“One Nation, One Tax”), the 112 number would also become “One Nation, One Helpline.”
The Chief Minister said that at the initial stage, the 112 emergency helpline services have been initiated in seven districts. In the initial stage other emergency service numbers such as 101, 108, 100, 1962, 189 and others would remain operational but later they all would be gradually merged into 112.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister had flagged off the vehicles attached to the emergency services like Abhayam Helpline, Fire Brigade, 108-ambulance and others with integrated services of 112.
