Anand: Police had to fire 7 rounds in air and lobbed 17 tear gas shells to control a communal clash which erupted over Petty fight between children in Akbarpur area of Khambhat town in Central Gujarat today evening. Six houses were set on fire during this incident of communal clash. None was injured in this clash. 200 cops and 4 DySPs are deployed to maintain peace.

Updates: Updates: Sunday’s group clash incident happened in connection with arguments over DJ music in open between Muslims and local Hindus early this month. In this backdrop, on last Thursday Machhipura based Bharatbhai alias Gandhi Jashwantbhai Khalasi was beaten up by six Muslims namely Sarfaraz Patangwala, Bablu, Ajit Raja, Moin Badru, Vaseem, Mohsin Malek in Akbapura area when Bharatbhai was passing through the area with his friend Atulbhai. In this incident, Atulbhai had also suffered injuries. A police complaint was filed in this regard in which it was alleged that Sarfaraz had caused fracture to Bharatbhai by using a stick while Moin had hit Bharatbhai’s leg with steel pipe. Others had used sticks.

Five police men were injured, three vehicles were majorly damaged and five houses were burnt on Sunday. Stone pelting between two groups was so heavy that entire town had been shut within minutes. Police men from entire district were mobilized to Khambhat to control the situation.
