Gujarat HC to hear plea of Hardik seeking permission to entry in Mahesana district on April 12

Ahmedabad:The Gujarat High Court would hear the plea of Congress leader and former PAAS convener Hardik Patel seeking permission to entry in Mahesana district on April 12.

He has filed a plea in the court for modification in the bail conditions of Visnagar rioting case of July 2015 in which he was convicted in July 2018 and was awarded 2 years jail term.

The bail conditions banned his entry in to the North Gujarat’s Patidar bastion of Mahesana till the appeal against the conviction was pending in the high court.

His counsel Salim M Saiyad today said that he again sought time for hearing on the plea in the court of Justice S H Vora.
‘We have requested for modification in the bail conditions and giving relief so that our client could enter Mahesana. We have prayed that as the evidences have been laid in the matter there should be no apprehension about any influence on it if he enters the district. The court has put the matter for hearing on April 12,’ he said.

Notably, the state government has opposed this plea saying that 17 FIRs have been filed against Hardik in last 3 years. His conduct could create law and order problem if allowed to enter the district.

Notably due to the conviction the case pertaining to violence rioting and attack on then BJP MLA Rushikesh Patel’s office in Visnagar town of Mahesana, Hardik was unable to contest LS polls despite his desire to do so. The court of Justice A G Uraizee had earlier today rejected his plea seeking stay on the conviction in the case to enable him to contest election.
