Disturbed Area Act imposed in communally sensitive areas of Khambhat

Khambhat: Following continuous violence for years now, the Gujarat government on Wednesday notified 5 major areas of Khambhat city in Anand district of Central Gujarat under the Disturbed Areas Act.
The Revenue Department brought cit survey’s 4 wards in Khambhat under the ambit of the Gujarat Prohibition of Transfer of Immovable Property and Provision for Protection of Tenants from Eviction of Premises in Disturbed Areas Act, 1991.
This notification brought all properties and city survey numbers mentioned in the notification under regulation of sale of property under the law, for a period of five years from February 26, 2020 to February 25, 2025. During this period, all sale of properties already made within the time period would be held null and void and all further sale of property can be transferred only after previous sanction of the District Collector.
