‘Patients in waiting list struggling for ICU and Ventilator beds’
June 07, 2020
Ahmedabad: Dariyapur Congress MLA Gyasuddin Sheikh has today in a letter to Chief Minister raised the issue of unavailability of hospital beds for patients. He has alleged that for last one week, patients are struggling for ICU beds and ventilators.
He in a letter said, ‘new patients are not admitted in SVP hospital for last 20 days with excuse of lack of availability of ICU beds and ventilators. Instead of 800-1000 patients, SVP is keeping only 500 patients during last 20 days. Private hospitals have 50% beds reserved for patients referred by AMC. Same way 50% ICU beds and 50% ventilators should also be kept reserved for patients shifted by AMC. For last four days, there’s a shortage of ventilators felt in the civil hospital. 15-20 patients are in waiting list to get ventilator bed, though their condition is critical. 42 private designated hospitals of AMC also refuse admission to patients with excuse of lack of ICU beds and ventilators.’
