Gujarat likely to lead in regaining pre-Covid GDP rate: Amit Shah

Gandhinagar: Union home minister Amit Shah today said, he is hopeful that the next quarter results will push GDP to positive direction compared to pre-Covid position.
In virtual address on occasion of inauguration of two flyovers in his Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency today, Shah said, ‘the latest GDP figure indicates that we are trailing by just 6 per cent compared to pre covid position. I am hopeful that the next quarter results will push GDP to direction of plus.’
He said this is thanks to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said, ‘when Covid19 pandemic started, the Prime Minister visualized its far reaching impact on country’s economy and he utilized the covid19 period for policy making. The government didn’t miss a minute of time and worked for reforms in various domains such as power, tax, industrial policy. Rs. 20 lakh crore Garib Kalyan package was introduced for economic recovery, as a result of which in the latest GDP figure, we are trailing by just 6 per cent compared to pre-covid position.’
Shah said, ‘Gujarat has achieved pre-Covid levels of power consumption and GST revenue collection. The State is likely to lead in regaining pre-Covid GDP rate.’
Shah noted that India attracted highest FDI (foreign direct investment) even in covid time. India attracted record number of FII in the month of November.
He pointed out that Gujarat has emerged as number one state in attracting Foreign Direct Investment.
‘Around fifty per cent foreign direct investment of country attracted only by Gujarat, is a situation like – Ram on one side and Gam on the other side (ek baju Ram anne biji baju gaam)’, he said in reference to a news report in today’s dailies. DeshGujarat
