https://t.co/eupW8XRVKn

Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal today in his tweet made announcement that Delhi government will this year set up India’s first Teachers University where best teachers of India and the world will be made.
Kejriwal’s this claim was factually incorrect, as Gujarat has already such university since year 2011.
The Vice Chancellor of Teachers University in Gujarat which is known as Indian Institute of Teachers Education (IITE), Dr. Harshad Patel, quoting Kejriwal’s tweet said: Gentleman, when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji was Gujarat’s Chief Minister, he had in year 2011 set up IITE (Teachers University), and at present I am the Vice Chancellor of that university.
Soon there were number of memes rolling across social media platforms regarding this.

It’s worth noting that then Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Narendra Modi had unveiled the draft curriculum of IITE on 30th June 2011. An act to establish the IITE was passed in year 2010. Shri Modi had in those years said, ‘improvement in education requires more prominence to producing the best teachers than creating the infrastructure for education. The method of education is inevitably as crucial as the management of education.
IITE Gujarat has been enlisted in 23 best practices in the country in human resources development in the report of NITI Aayog.
