‘New govt in Maharashtra has left no stone unturned in stalling the bullet train project’

New Delhi: While Gujarat and Union Territory of Dadra Nagar Haveli have completed 95 per cent land acquisition for proposed Mumabi – Ahmedabad high speed railway project (bullet train project), the new government in Maharashtra (Shiv Sena – Congress – NCP) has left no stone unturned in stalling the project. The previous government(BJP) in Maharashtra had acquired 24 per cent land for the project, but the new government in the State has stalled the task.
Minister of Railways, Government of India, Piyush Goyal said this in reply to Shiv Sena MP’s question in Lok Sabha.
Reacting to this, Shiv Sena MP alleged that the project is being opposed by Marathi Maharashtra as central government plans to shift corporates located in Mumbai to Gujarat in garb of bullet train project.
To this, Piyush Goyal replied, when BJP government was in power in Maharashtra, not a single office had been shifted from there. Goyal said the present government in Maharashtra has failed on various fronts be it corruption or controlling Covid. In such situation, if someone leaves Mumbai, who is responsible for that?
Goyal further said, the Maharashtra government is not extending cooperation for already approved lines, then what would happen if any other project is taken up there.
In reply to another question, Goyal said the Maharashtra government has even not transferred the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) based land for proposed station for bullet train project. If this land is not transferred, how the works can progress further regarding bullet train project. DeshGujarat
