Narendra Modi visits CWG medal winner Lajja’s house

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today visited Commonwealth Games silver medallist Lajja Goswami at her house in central Gujarat’s Jitodia village to congratulate her.
Modi also presented Lajja with a cheque of Rs five lakh as a token of appreciation for her outstanding performance at the CWG 2010.
“It is for the first time that a sportsperson from Gujarat has won a medal in CWG. Preserving the core spirit of Gujarat, with immense passion and commitment Lajja has really turned out like a shining star. Lajja has made Gujarat proud,” he said and hoped that she would continue to perform better in the future.
Modi further said that Lajja”s success would give a huge impetus to sports in Gujarat.
“She would motivate the youths of Gujarat who are going to participate in Gujarat govt organized Khelkud Mahakumbh later this year,” he added.
Soon after Lajja”s medal winning performance, Modi had called her father on telephone to give his compliments.
