AMC run SVP hospital hikes ventilator and executive category beds charges

Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) run Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (SVP Hospital) has revised some of charges of treatment.

The charges for the 1200 general beds facility for the common patients reamain unchanged and the existing rate of Rs 400 per day will continue.

The charges for executive category are increased. Such beds are commonly used by those able to manage the finances. The total number of beds in this category is 300.

Ventilators charges in ICU are increased to Rs 2,000 per day. Same would cost in private hospitals at over Rs 5,000 while AMC run hospitals including LG Hospital, VS Hospital and Shardaben Hospital charge Rs 1500 for the same.

The hospital has introduced new surgical packages that include not only operation charges but also the necessary medicines, materials required for operation and consumables which were earlier required to be bought separately by the patients. This revision is made considering the comfort of the patients, said AMC.

The process of rate-revision is implemented after discussions with the doctors of adjacent departments. The charges are kept at least less than 50 percent than other private hospitals. Rates of around 74 services are reduced by 90 per cent, claims AMC, adding that such services include treatment of Dengue, Chikungunya and Thyroid.
