Representation made to extend Shatabdi Express to Gandhinagar: CR Patil

Gandhinagar: Gujarat’s second largest city Surat and capital town Gandhinagar may come closer soon with cut in total time of journey between two destinations.
Speaking at the function of installation ceremony of new office bearers of Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SGCCI) in Surat recently, Navsari Lok Sabha MP CR Patil said that representation has been made before union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnav recently to extend the route of Mumbai – Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express train to Gandhinagar.
Patil said, Shatabdi Express if extended to Gandhinagar would take just 30 to 35 minutes to travel from Ahmedabad to Gandhinagar. If taken road route to Gandhinagar from Ahmedabad railway station, the journey to capital takes around two hours time.
Patil said, if the train is extended to Gandhinagar, the people of South Gujarat would be able to travel to State capital easily.
Patil himself travel between Surat and Gandhiangar frequently as for last over a year he is the President of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Gandhinagar headquartered State unit. DeshGujarat
