BJP MLAs file nomination for the posts of Speaker and Dy Speaker

Gandhinagar: BJP MLA Smt Nimaben Acharya today filed nomination for the post of Speaker of Gujarat Assembly. Another BJP MLA Jethabhai Ahir (Bharwad) filed nomination for the post of Deputy Speaker. Nominations of both MLAs were handed over to Secretary DM Patel by Revenue minister Rajendra Trivedi and ruling party whip Pankajbhai Desai today. The State Assembly session is going to be held next week for two days. Nimaben is party MLA from Kutch district while Jetha Ahir is MLA from Shehra constituency in Panchmahal district of Central Gujarat. The election for the post of Speaker has been necessitated after Rajendra Trivedi resigned from the post and took oath as a senior most minister in new Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s cabinet. As Nimaben’s only nomination has been received, she is all set to to takeover as first woman Speaker of the State Assembly. Nimaben before filing nomination for the post of Speaker, resigned from ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as per a convention. DeshGujarat
