Sanghavi announces reward policy for informants in narcotics cases

Gandhinagar: State Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi today announced Narco Reward Policy to reward the informants informing about activities related to narcotics.
Sanghavi informed that the reward policy is formed for appreciating the informants and public servants for informing about narcotics considering the letter of finance department dated 10th October 2017 and letter of home department dated 25th June 2020.
He added that the rewards will be fully paid Ex-Gratia and the administration will confirm them. In the case of seizure done on the basis of information given by informant, the parameters such as uniqueness and accuracy of information, risk taken, problems, help by the informant and its quantity, information, whether the information about connected people and teams in cases of rigging of substances under NDPS Act will be considered for deciding the amount of reward. In cases of successful seizure through proceedings by public servants, the parameters such as special efforts by them, risks taken, their vigilance and skills will be considered.
He added that no reward will be given to the officials or employees who present the proofs as part of their regular duty. The reward will be till 20 % of the illegal price of the substances seized under provisions of NDPS act 1985. The maximum price of reward to be paid to public servants during their entire tenue will be Rs 20 lakhs. The reward of over Rs 2 lakh won’t be confirmed to any employee or official in a single case.
