AUDA to implement Rs. 1900 crore gutter, storm water line, STP works

Sabarmati: The proposal of a soft loan of Rs 1,900 crores from Asian Development Bank made by Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) for the works of gutter, drinking water, pipelines for disposal of rainwater, and STP plants for cleaning dirty water in small towns in the periphery of Ahmedabad city and the developing areas connected to the city has received approval.
The works will be undertaken in the small towns in the periphery of Ahmedabad city such as Mahemdavad, Sanand, Kalol, Dahegam and the developing areas connected with the city such as Bopal, Ghuma, Manipur, Godhavi, Shela, Telav, and Sanathal. The scrutiny of these projects is ongoing at present which will be completed till December. A special project monitoring unit will be made in AUDA and the works under various schemes will be allotted to private parties through tendering by the unit. The works will be started from January 2022 and they will be completed within 4 years.
An underground gutter network covering 54 kms in Bopal, Ghuma, Shela, Manipur, Godhavi, Sanathal, Telav will be constructed. Pipelines of 1600 to 2200 mm diameter will be installed for it. To treat the dirty water of this gutter network, a STP plant of 107 MLD capacity will be installed. The treated water will be supplied to Fatehwadi areas for irrigation. A storm water disposal system of 57 kms will be set-up in the above-mentioned areas. The gutter network will cost around Rs 155 crores and the storm water line will cost Rs 115 crores.
A total 10 bridges will be built on SP ring road at a cost of Rs 660 crores. The works of Rs 500 crores will be undertaken in the small towns in the periphery of Ahmedabad such as Dahegam, Sanand, Aslali, Mahemdavad and Kalol. DeshGujarat
