German ambassador visits Surat Metro Project site

Surat: The delegation of German Ambassador Walter Johns Lindner, (Ambassador of the Federal Public of Germany), Stephen Koch (Minister and Head of the Economic and Global Affairs), Maria Enig (Acting Consul General, German Consulate) and Ashumi Shroff (Senior Advisor Economic Affairs) visited the Surat Metro Project on Thursday- 10th February 2022. The German delegation received the details regarding the progress of the metro rail project at Bhimrad in Surat.
The Surat Metro Project director Sahdevsinh Rathi informed that around 50 percent investment for the project has been made by the German and French governments. The French and German governments have jointly contributed the loan of Rs 5434 crore for the project. The amount of Rs 3500 crore has been approved from Germany out of the same.
He said, the project will be completed quickly and timely due to the usage of modern systems. He aimed to complete the works within 2 years. The works for the 18.6 km metro line is in progress. The works for construction of 6 underground stations, 6.47 km tunnel and 10 stations are also underway.
