Congress to protest proposed river linking project in Gandhinagar

Valsad: A large number of tribals gathered at Kaprada in Valsad to protest proposed Par-Tapi river-link project and announced to hold protest in State capital Gandhinagar on 25th March. The agitation is going on under the leadership of local Congress leaders including MLAs.

The tribals joined a rally with playcards and shouted slogans such as ‘Dam Hatao Adivasi Bachao’. They declared further protests in Gandhinagar on 25th March. The tribals had made protests in Dharampur, Vansda and other tribal populated areas over the proposed project. The leader of opposition in the State assembly Sukhram Rathva, former minister Tushar Chaudhari, Congress core committee member Gaurav Pandya, Abhinav Delkar, Vansda MLA Anant Patel remained present in the protest.

State finance minister Kanubhai Desai had said in Khadki village of Pardi on Sunday that the tribals will not lose even one inch of land in the Par-Tapi riverlink project. However Congress is continuing to propel protest against this project and mobilize the tribals as the State is going to witness general elections of assembly in December this year. DeshGujarat
