Discontent in Vadodara city unit of Congress party

Vadodara: Several congress leaders from Vadodara city have reportedly given resignations after the announcement of the new organizational body of Vadodara city unit of congress.

The congress leaders namely former president Suresh Patel, General Secretary Nirmal Thakkar, former vice president Kamalkant Pandya have given resignations, it is learnt. The former party president Suresh Patel is upset due to appointing him as permanent invited member in the party. Former vice president Kamalkant Pandya is upset with his appointment as invited member. The new organization of the Vadodara city congress was announced by Rutvij Joshi, president of Vadodara congress.

Former president Suresh Patel alleged that Rutvij Joshi is a president working through ‘remote control’ as per the signals given by BJP. He alleged that such people will destroy the congress in Vadodara city. He said that he will go to Delhi to complain about the same. He claimed that they could ask them before forming the body but they didn’t.

However, Vadodara city congress president Rutvij Joshi said that he haven’t received such resignations so far. He added that those who left their positions have given family reasons for leaving. He said that he has allocated the positions as per the protocols of the party, in the new body.

Infighting in Vadodara Congress is not new. In the recent past several Congress men had raised displeasure against party leader Maulin Vaishnav. The party has not been able to win any assembly seat or Lok Sabha seat in Vadodara since long. The party has not been able to win the civic election as well in Vadodara for the last many terms.
