Gujarat BJP to start membership drive from June 16; New voters, youths, women in focus

Gandhinagar: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will focus on new voters while rolling out its Statewide membership drive from June 16.
According to State party vice president, Shri Gordhan Zadafia, as many as 50 lakh new voters are going to vote for the first time this year in Gujarat polls. They are all young voters. They have not seen the Congress party government in Gujarat as they were not born even at that time. They need to be informed how were the old days, and what has changed during the BJP government in the State. Such new voters need to be contacted at the spots like hostels, college campus etc places.
Zadadia said, the party had already enrolled 1.13 crore primary members. He said the party generally adds 20 per cent voters as members over and above the existing number of primary members.
He said there are 80 lakh page committee members of party and the data entry work to digitize their details is ongoing.
Zadafia said the new voters will be reached out and connected to the party through various Morcha (wings) of party such as Yuva morcha, Mahila morcha, SC, ST and OBC morcha.
The meetings in this regard were conducted today at the State party headquarters Shri Kamalam here.
