Clamor for strict action against AAP local leader accused of extorting money from businessmen

Jetpur: Members of the Jetpur Dyeing and Printing Association and Chamber of Commerce gathered at the mamlatdar office to submit a memorandum seeking strict punishment under the Indian Penal Code for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s Jetpur city’s former president accused of blackmailing and extorting money from a proprietor of textile and cotton printing unit of Jetpur.
A police complaint was filed against a so called AAP city president, Bhavesh M Ginoya, for filing applications in the GPCB and PGVCL against Jai Gautami Textile and Printing Dyeing Works claiming that the unit that had been closed down for non-compliance with pollution rules was secretly functioning. Ginoya had also allegedly approached the proprietor of the unit, Ramnikbhai Madhabhai Butani, offering to withdraw his applications in return for a hefty sum of money.
The members of the Association and Chamber said there have been attempts to blackmail proprietors in the past as well and these attempts are still ongoing.
