Mirchi Murga fame RJ Kunal’s father commits suicide; Sola cops book 4 in the case

Ahmedabad: Mirchi Murga fame Radio Jockey Krunal’s 74-yr-old father Ishwarbhai Desai committed suicide under a train at the Janatanagar Railway Crossing at dawn on Wednesday.

The Sola police have found a seven-page suicide note from the spot according to which he (Ishwarbhai) was compelled to take this extreme step after his son Krunal’s in-laws started demanding a sum of Rs 1 crore in order to settle the matter of suicide committed by Krunal’s wife, Bhumi, in 2016 out of the court.

Bhumi’s parents (Krunal’s in-laws) used to threaten Ishwarbhai to prepare for the death sentence from the court if they were not paid the money.

Based on a complaint filed by Ishwarbhai’s younger brother, Shambhubhai, the Sola police have registered a criminal offence against Krunal’s in-laws, Pravinbhai Ranchodbhai Panchal and his wife Kavitaben, a relative, Ramesh Panchal, and one Bhuvaji Laxmanbhai Desai.

Ishwarbhai has mentioned all four in his suicide note by name and said that they operating in cahoots used to call him often to meet in private and to pressurize him to settle the matter of Bhumi’s suicide outside the court in return for Rs 1 crore. Finally, they had agreed to settle the matter outside court for a sum of Rs 75 lakh or threatened Ishwarbhai to prepare for death sentence from the court. They had told Ishwarbhai to pay the money till July 5, 2022. The four accused were mentioned to be harassing Ishwarbhai physically, mentally as well as financially, in the suicide note.

The police inspector of Sola, N R Vaghela, has informed that after preliminary investigation they have registered a criminal offence based on the suicide note. The Suicide note has been sent to a handwriting expert. The procedure of recording statements of the plaintiff and the witnesses is going on.
