Bajrang Dal activist who raised voice for Disturbed Area Act brutally attacked in Surat

Surat: A Bajrang Dal & VHP activist was attacked brutally by youths from the minority community on the very next day (on Saturday night) after he had expressed his anguish against laxity shown in the enforcement of the Disturbed Area Act in Surat’s Mahidharpura before police commissioner, Ajay Tomar, during a Lok Darbar program on Friday evening.
A collision between the moped of the Bajrang Dal Activist and the bike ridden by the youths of minority community provided the spark for the dispute to snowball into a violent scuffle.
The Mahidharpura police have registered an offence of rioting and detained three youths in this matter.
According to details available, Pinkesh Bipinbhai Rana (32), who lives in Navapura-Purabiya sheri, is associated with the RSS affiliated saffron outfits, Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad, as an activist. He was on his way towards Moti Talkies on Saturday at around 8.30 pm when the Activa he was riding collided with a Pulsar bike near Begumpura, Brahman Faliya.
A dispute ensued between Pinkesh and the three youths on the Pulsar bike with both sides blaming each other for riding carelessly. During this dispute, the three youths riding the bike turned aggressive and started verbally abusing Pinkesh. One of the youths even attacked Pinkesh with a belt. Another youth on the bike then said, “This fellow thinks that he is a big leader of Hindus, let’s beat him up,” and began kicking Pinkesh.
The youths on the bike even dragged Pinkesh till Ganesh Omelette while continuing to assault him physically. However, the youths fled after the local people intervened. Pinkesh was taken to Smimear for medical treatment.
Pinkesh has alleged that the attack by the youths was an attempt to get even with him for raising his voice against the negligence in enforcement of the Disturbed Area Act in Mahidharpura during a Lok Darbar program on Friday evening.
The Mahidharpura police have booked Nasir, Arman, Zaheer, Javed, Adil, Asif, Javed Langdo and Yusuf for rioting. Those who have been detained are Azam, Ruhan apart from a minor.
