Surat Police nabs 2 for spreading fake news

Surat: The police booked two persons for making fake news of the death of a person due to alcohol in Pandesara viral on social media.
A person named Shyam Namdev Kalkher (age 32, lives in Premnagar in Pandesara) died at the new civil hospital in Surat on Saturday. The accused TV channel journalists Sanjay Khernar and Satish Patil allegedly made the deceased’s brother Ravi claim that he died due to alcohol while taking his interview. The doctor, who conducted the post-mortem of the deceased, stated that he didn’t die due to alcohol consumption.
Pandesara police had previously booked Sanjay Khernar for demanding ransom. He had allegedly demanded a ransom of Rs 5 thousand from Vidhyaben Shinde, living in Premnagar slums, and was involved in the alcohol business in the past.
