Banaskantha: Geniben Thakor, Congress MLA from the Vav constituency on Friday threatened to chop off the police officers’ fingers if they try to detain the agitating Anganwadi workers.
Anganwadi workers are on protest across the state for two to three weeks, demanding regularisation of their jobs. The MLA said that the Anganwadi workers are only paid ₹ 7,000 per month.
Speaking to the media, Geniben said, “I visited Anganwadi workers protesting for regularisation of their jobs on Thursday. There, I warned the police that I would chop off their fingers if they harassed or detained workers. The workers have a right to demand a pay hike.”
She alleged that the police is not at all concerned with real law and order issues instead it is serving the political interest of the ruling party. Police crush any agitation by citizens or government employees.
Geniben has been known for using such language of threat in the past too on more than one occasions.
