AIMIM fields 14 candidates in Gujarat polls; of them 13 in fray

Gandhinagar: The candidates of AIMIM (All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen) will contest for 14 seats in the upcoming state assembly election. Out of 14, one Shahnawaz Pathan has withdrawn his nomination on Bapunagar seat.
The 14 candidates include two Hindus and 12 Muslims. Out of the 14 seats, congress leads in 8 and BJP leads in 6 seats at present. There is the majority of Muslim and Schedule Caste voters in these 14 seats. AIMIM candidates will contest from 5 seats of Ahmedabad which include Danilimda, Vejalpur, Dariyapur, Khadia-Jamalpur, and Bapunagar (withdrawn).
AIMIM candidate Kaushika Parmar will contest from the Danilimda seat against BJP candidate Naresh Vyas and congress candidate Shailesh Parmar. Shailesh Parmar from congress is the winning candidate for two terms for the Danilimda seat. There are 1,04,000 Muslims, 51,162 SC, 29,000 OBC and 59,000 other voters for the Danilimda seat. AIMIM candidate Zainabibi Shaikh will contest from Vejalpur against BJP candidate Amit Thakar and congress candidate Rajendra Patel. There are 1,21,000 Muslim votes, 30,000 SC votes, 84,000 OBC, 65,000 Patel, 64,000 other votes for the Vejalpur seat. AIMIM candidate Hasankhan Pathan will contest from the Dariyapur seat against BJP candidate Kaushik Jain and congress candidate Gyasuddin Shaikh. AIMIM Gujarat president Sabir Kabliwala will contest from the Khadia Jamalpur seat. The candidate of congress is Imran Khedawala and BJP candidate is Bhushan Bhatt from the Khadia Jamalpur seat. AIMIM candidate Shahnawaz Shaikh was to contest from Bapunagar seat, but he has withdrawn his nomination.
The AIMIM candidate for Mangrol (Junagadh) seat is Suleman Patel, Shakil Sama for Bhuj seat, Abbas Nodasola for Siddhpur seat, Abdul Bashir Shaikh for Limbayat seat, Wasim Qureshi for Surat East, Kalpesh Sundhiya for Vadgam seat, Mufti Hasan Kachba for Godhra seat, Yakub Bukhari for Khambhalia seat, and Mahhamad Manjaliya for Mandvi (kutch) seat.
