Congress to move MLAs to Rajasthan, poach independents if it reaches somewhere near the half-mark
December 07, 2022
Ahmedabad: The leaders of the main opposition Congress party in Gujarat today held a meeting and decided to shift the newly elected legislators of the party to the neighboring state Rajasthan after the results are out tomorrow on the counting day for the State assembly polls.
Top leaders of State Congress including the party chief Jagdish Thakor, State party incharge Raghu Shamara and others held a meeting at the State party headquarters in Paldi area of Ahmedabad today and took the decision that they should move the newly elected MLAs of Congress to party-ruled neighboring State Rajasthan after their election so that the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) can’t poach them if BJP is short in number.
Even after all the exit polls showed a clear BJP victory with a comfortable to huge margin, the State Congress leaders firmly believe that they are going to improve the party’s tally compared to the 2017 polls. The party today assigned zone-wise responsibility to various leaders and asked them to be in touch with the winning candidate of the party and mobilize them to Rajasthan when asked to do so. The Congress party has also decided to attract the independent MLAs to lift its tally in the State assembly in an attempt to cross the half-mark. Possible coalition with AAM Aadmi Party (AAP) and BTP was also discussed during the meeting if need arise to gather the number to cross the half mark.
The party leaders who are assigned zone-wise tasks have left for their respective zone. DeshGujarat
