Gadkari assures completion of Chiloda-Himmatnagar and Somnath highway projects by June

Dholka: In reply to a media query, union Roads and Transport minister Nitin Gadkari today said that much delayed Chiloda – Himmatnagar national highway works shall be completed by March this year. He said this about 95 percent work is over on this project. He said two MLAs have demanded some facilities following which the works will continue till June this year. Gadkari said that road over-bridge work is underway on this route. When asked about the long-delayed Saurashtra coastal highway project, Gadkari said a contractor linked to the Somnath highway project has been terminated and the works shall be concluded by June.

Gadkari said the government will come out with a new policy on the fast tag in the next three-four months and introduce an automatic number plate registration system linked to a satellite. He said along with the fast tag sticker, the camera will also scan the number plate and take photos at entry and exit points, and levy money from the bank. Gadkari said, once this system is placed, the toll booths will be removed.

Gadkari said the Delhi – Jaipur stretch of the Delhi – Mumbai new expressway is completed and Prime Minister’s time has been sought for its inauguration.
