India Post starts mail delivery via Gogha-Hazira RoPax Ferry

Gandhinagar: India Post starts using the RoPax (roll-on/off-passenger) ferry services on the Gogha-Hazira route to provide quick postal services between Mumbai and Saurashtra and South Gujarat. The service is called Tarang Post.

Devusinh Chauhan, Minister of State for Communications, officially launched India Post’s daily mail and package delivery transportation services today aboard the “M.V. Voyage Express- RoPax Ferry.”

According to an official statement, the service will not only reduce delivery transportation times from around 10 to 12 hours to 3 to 4 hours, but it will also allow for quick movement of industrial packages between Saurashtra, South Gujarat, and Mumbai regions.

Daily Mail freight of between 3 and 4 tonnes is expected to be transported by the service in the next months.

Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the RoPax service between Hazira and Gogha in November 2020, it has carried more than 3.7 lakh passengers and 1.1 lakh vehicles (cars, buses, and trucks) through December 2022. DeshGujarat
