B20 Inception meeting to start from tomorrow in Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar: India’s G20 Presidency, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has officially commenced from 1st December, 2022.
Gujarat will also host a series of discussions, deliberations and meetings. The first in the list of 15 events is the Business20 Inception Meeting which will be held from 22 to 24 January 2023 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar.
B20 was established in 2010 and it is an important engagement group of G20. It represents the priorities of global businesses. The B20 Inception Meeting in Gandhinagar will focus on identified industry priorities with the aim to realise the B20 strategic vision to translate into actionable policy recommendations.
The Opening Session of the B20 Inception Meeting will kick off on 23rd January, 2023. It will be attended by Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Mr. N. Chandrasekaran, Chair, B20 India and Chairman, Tata Sons, Shri Amitabh Kant, India’s Sherpa to G20 and Shri Anurag Jain, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Government of India.
It will be followed by a Special Plenary on B20 India Priorities. This will be attended by Mr. Sanjiv Bajaj, Chairman and M.D, Bajaj Finserv; Mr. Charles Rick Johnstone, Chairman, Business at OECD; Mr. Michael Froman, Vice Chairman and President, Mastercard and Mr. R.Dinesh, Executive Vice Chairman, TVS Supply Chain Solutions.
There will also be a special plenary session on Opportunities in Gujarat on 23 January, 2023 from 18:00 hours to 19:00 hours. This session will be attended by more than 250 delegates from associated industries. It will provide a glimpse into the business and investment opportunities in Gujarat and showcase the strengths due to which the state has emerged as a preferred choice for investors, over the years. This session will be attended by Minister of Finance Shri Kanubhai Desai, Minister of Industries Shri Balvantsinh Rajput, Minister of Tourism Shri Mulubhai Bera and Shri Pankaj Kumar, Chief Secretary.
The Gujarat Government has also curated special events for the delegates to provide them a first hand experience of the state’s culture, art and lifestyle. The delegates will visit the Dandi Kutir on 22nd January, 2023. A cultural program and a welcome reception are also planned later that evening.
On 24th January, the state government has organised a Yoga Session and Eco-Tour at Punit Van, excursion to GIFT City and visit to Adalaj Stepwell.
There will be a series of plenary sessions on areas such as Climate Action, Rethinking and Revitalizing Innovation to Drive Inclusive Impact, Redefining the Global Digital Cooperation, Building Resilient Global Value Chains, Fostering Financial Inclusion and Empowering Societies. The plenary sessions will have global policy makers, thought leaders, heads of international organisations on 23rd January, 2023. Some of the speakers include Ms. Quint Simon, Head of Public Policy APAC, Amazon Web Services, Dr. Amitendu Palit, Senior Research Fellow and Research Leads, National University of Singapore, Lord Udny-Lister of Wandsworth, Senior Advisor to Group Chairman, HSBC, Ms. Roshni Nadar, Chairperson, HCL Technologies Ltd, Prof Soumitra Dutta, Dean, Said Business School, University of Oxford and many others.
Government of Gujarat has organised exciting competitions to join the G20 India celebrations. The competitions include:

– Rangoli Competition
– Poem/Essay Competition
