Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has sanctioned ₹317 crores for the scheme to fill up a total of 74 check dams and lakes in 53 villages in Satlasana and Kheralu, two talukas in North Gujarat, with water from the Dharoi Dam.
Under the Chief Minister’s directive, a new pipeline will be laid to supply water from the Dharoi Dam to the lakes in Kheralu and Satlasana talukas. This endeavour aims to raise the underground water level and provide irrigation to approximately 53 village lakes and 8 check dams directly. Additionally, it will indirectly benefit an additional 8 lakes and 5 check dams, totalling 74 lakes and covering 5,808 hectares of land.
To facilitate the project, a pipeline stretching 118.14 kilometres will be constructed, with the state government allocating a budget of 317 crore rupees. The initiative is expected to benefit over 2,700 farmers across the two talukas.
In a phased approach, a total of 400 MCFT (Million Cubic Feet) of water will be utilized from the Dharoi Dam reservoir to fill the lakes. This quantity will be drawn from the reservoir, ensuring a sustainable water supply for the irrigation needs of the region. DeshGujarat
