Vande Bharat, the fastest train to travel from Ahmedabad to Palanpur, Abu Road, Jodhpur; How much time it saves?

Sabarmati: So apart from the services and facilities available on board, how the second Vande Bharat Express of Gujarat connecting Sabarmati to Jodhpur would be superior to the other trains on the same route? Well, Vande Bharat has become the fastest available train now to travel from Ahmedabad to Palanpur, Abu Road, and Jodhpur.
Let’s see it station by station. The fastest train connecting Ahmedabad to Palanpur, the district headquarters of Banaskantha so far was Ahmedabad – New Delhi Rajdhani Express. It takes 2.10 hour time to travel between Ahmedabad and Palanpur. Compared to this, Vande Bharat Express takes 1.53 hour time. Of course, Rajdhani Express runs from Kalupur railway station in Ahmedabad while Vande Bharat runs from Sabarmati station in Ahmedabad. If we minus the time taken from Kalupur to Sabarmati, then the difference would be lesser but still, the Vande Bharat Express would prove fastest on this route. So while Vande Bharat leaves Ahmedabad at 18.30 and reaches Palanpur at 20.40, Vande Bharat would leave at 16.45 and reach Palanpur at 18.38.
Now let’s speak about Ahmedabad to Abu Road. While the fastest on this route so far, Rajdhani Express takes 2.50 hours to reach Abu Road from Ahmedabad, the Vande Bharat Express takes 2.28 hours, of course from Sabarmati in Ahmedabad (in Rajdhani’s case – Kalupur in Ahmedabad). So Vande Bharat saves some 22 minutes of timing. While Rajdhani Express leaves Ahmedabad at 18.30 and reaches Abu Road at 21.20, Vande Bharat leaves Ahmedabad at 16.45 and reaches Abu Road at 19.13. For those who want to travel to Mount Abu hill station via Abu Road railway station by train, this evening arrival time is a bit odd, because in most cases, hotel check-in time is 12.00 noon.

Let’s check Ahmedabad – Jodhpur time-saving. The fastest on this route so far is Jaisalmer Express which takes 7.40 hours time to travel from Sabarmati to Jodhpur. Compared to this, Vande Bharat would take just 6.10 hours to travel on the same route. This is a net saving of one and a half hours. While Jaisalmer Express leaves Sabarmati at 23.00 and reaches Jodhpur at 6.40 am, Vande Bharat leaves Sabarmati at 16.45 and reaches Jodhpur at 22.55.
Vande Bharat would stop at Mahesana after leaving Sabarmati. It’s worth noting, that on this route, Vande Bharat would not be the fastest train. Yes, you heard it right. Sabarmati – Agra cant train takes 00.39 hour time to travel between Sabarmati to Mahesana, while Vande Bharat Express would take 00.48 hour time to travel on the same route.
So in actuality, Vande Bharat would pick up the speed post-Mahesana till Abu Road and will pick up even higher speed after Abu Road which would result in a net saving of one and a half hour journey time when it would reach Jodhpur. It’s worth noting that the first Vande Bharat Express of Gujarat which runs on the Gandhinagar to Mumbai route is the fastest to travel on Ahmedabad to Vadodara, Surat, Vapi, Borivali, and Mumbai Central.
