July 11, 2023
Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will likley inaugurate the second edition of Semicon India, scheduled to take place at the Mahatma Mandir Exhibition and Convention Centre in Gandhinagar from July 28 to 30. Semicon India 2023 aims to boost the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in Gujarat by attracting investments from technology companies and fostering technological collaborations.
The conference will witness the participation of major technology players, including Micron Technology from the US, which recently invested in Gujarat. Other participants include Renesas Electronics (Japan), STMicroelectronics (Netherlands), NVIDIA (US), Transphorm (US), Qualcomm (US), Grantwood Technologies (US), Tata Group (India), Tenstorrent (Canada), and Cadence (US), among others.
Following Vedanta Group’s announcement of investing in the country’s first semiconductor fab in Gujarat last September, the state recently received a significant investment of Rs 22,500 crore from Micron Technology, a US-based company, to establish a semiconductor manufacturing unit in Sanand.
Globally, the semiconductor manufacturing industry is currently valued at $550 billion and is projected to reach $1 trillion by 2030. Gujarat has taken the lead in launching a dedicated policy to promote semiconductor manufacturing in the state. DeshGujarat
